5 Best Food Choppers On the Market

In our post about the best food processors, we showed the 7 best food processors, which you can currently find available on the market. All these listed processors are All-rounders and are a great addition to every kitchen.

Recently, I had a mail conversations with some readers that I should cover the best food choppers. I know that there are some specific models out there that are good for chopping food. Wikipedia understands under a food processor:

A food processor is a kitchen appliance used to facilitate repetitive tasks in the preparation of food.

Hence, we can claim that a food chopper is basically a food processor. You may ask now the question, why I am writing another post about food processors. I distinct a food chopper by the following criteria:

  • Price: A food chopper is often much cheaper as a food processor.
  • Functionality: A food chopper does best and that is, chopping.
  • Variety: There are manual food choppers on the market, that I didn`t cover in any other post yet.

After going through 3.700 reviews of food choppers and small food processors, I am going to distinct this post into two separate sections “food choppers that are good for most people” and “manual food choppers”.

The Best Food Choppers For Most People

1) BLACK+DECKER HC300B One-Touch

BLACK+DECKER HC300B One-Touch
BLACK+DECKER HC300B One-Touch

One of the finest food choppers on the market is the HC300B One-Touch from BLACK+DECKER. This food chopper comes in elegant black and only weights around 1.8 pounds.

The work-bowl is 3 cups large and is using a sharp blade to cut ingredients into smaller pieces. The 175W Motor can process nuts, herbs, breadcrumbs, cooked produce, and more. This food chopper is ideal for the next guacamole or salsa recipe.

The HC300B has small openings in the cover to add oil or already cut ingredients. All parts are dishwasher safe and can be removed from the chopper.

This food chopper has the potential to be used also for other tasks, such as preparing for example delicious humus. We highly recommend it, if besides chopping also other functions, such as creating smoothies or a milk shake, are also important to you.

2) Cuisinart Mini-Prep Plus DLC-2A

Our second pick is the Cuisinart Mini-Prep Plus DLC-2A. This chopper is similar to the model from HC306 One-Touch.

The Mini-Prep Plus has strong motor, 250 Watt, to process even the hardest ingredients. You can chop nuts, making breadcrumbs or simply chop onions.

The chopper has on the top of its lid a small opening to add liquids, such as oil. We noticed that if you do not chop your food in small sizes you get an uneven chop. The recommended size by Cuisinart is 1/2 inch.

Some readers might think now, that this food chopper is similar to #1 and even comes with a stronger motor. With the recent occurrences that Cuisinart recalls a lot of their food processor models, we put this chopper on #2. You can find alternatives to food processor products by Cuisinart in a recent post of us. Still we believe it is a well rounded chopper, which is a great helper in the kitchen!

3) Hamilton Beach 70740 8-Cup

The strongest food chopper on our list is the 70740 8-Cup from Hamilton Beach. This processor has a powerful 450 Watt motor and makes the chopping process super fast.

From a design standpoint the model looks more like a real food processor, but still falls within our defined criterias in terms of price and functionality.

As with our #1 and #2 you can chop, slice or mix nearly everything with this processor. The large feed chute can be filled by larger sized ingredients.

The chopper comes with an S-Blade and the typical food processor blade. The chopper can be taken fully apart and all parts are dish-washer save. This reduces a lot of cleaning time.

We put the 70740 8-Cup from Hamilton Beach on #3, because it is compared to #1 and #2 nearly a fully functional food processor, but still great at chopping food. Hence, if you are looking for a food chopper that has more functions the 70740 8-Cup from Hamilton Beach is great for you!

The Best Manual Food Choppers

I know that some of you like to use old school man power to chop their food. So I had a look through my data to find the best manual food processors for you.

1) Brieftons Manual Food Chopper

The best manual food chopper on the market is the food chopper from Brieftons. This kitchen application comes in a compact and easy-to-use design.

Briefton has made an excellent choice by providing an easy-to-use handle to chop the food in the work-bowl. Usually 8 to 10 pulls are enough to create great chopping results.

The work-bowl provides space for up to 3 cups, but there is also an extended addition for up to 6-cups. If you are allergic to certain types of plastic Brieftons assures that all parts are BPA free.

One of the finest use cases for this food chopper is if you are camping or do not have access to electricity. Hence, you can use it to create great salsa, guacamole or even humus.

The food chopper from Brieftons is our #1 as it provides great value for money. The compact, powerful design adds perfect to your kitchen and you can easily upgrade the chopper as Briefton provides several other models, with different sized cups.

2) Müeller Vidalia Pro Vegetable Chopper

Müeller Vidalia Pro Vegetable Chopper
Müeller Vidalia Pro Vegetable Chopper

Our second pick is the Vidalia Pro Vegetable Chopper from Müeller. This chopper is different from other manual food choppers as it simply cuts food by pressing it through a slicer or dicer blade.

The Vidalia Pro Vegetable Chopper comes with two blades, one blade cuts 1/2″ squares, the other blade cuts 1/4″ squares. Further you get a 4-cup container, a cleaning brush and a recipe book. All parts of the chopper are BPA free and dishwasher safe.

This chopper is super compact and can easily be taken anywhere you go. However, one of the main disadvantages we see is that you simply cannot make sauces or food inside the work-bowl. This chopper is made for cutting.

We put the Vidalia Pro Vegetable Chopper from Müeller as our second pick as it is the typical manual food chopper that you can easily find on the market. If you are doing nothing more than cutting we highly recommend this chopper. Still an automatic chopper might be a great alternative for the manual cutting work.
